I've posted this elsewhere on the net but I thought I'd circulate it a bit more for you guys. Hope it is useful Please correct me if this an old finding/idea. At school, in DT we used a program called google sketchup. It allows you to make virtual shapes, houses, furniture, anything. Cities if you are good. Naturally, I thought, could this help the hobby? And the answer is yes. I read the instructions, mastered the basics, and set about designing a small Gondorian construction (its only half way through). You may laugh at it, and Im sure some of you will be able to do better. Here it is. The advantages of this is that you can delete something you dont like, try out a different shape, have more freedom than a drawing. The disadvantage are that you can't take measurements (unless you put a ruler up against the screen). This idea has been used before, by lots of people. See below. I am just circulating it and I hope you find it useful. Please say if you can think of any other pros and cons. Here is the link where you can get a free download: sketchup.google.com/ Thanks for reading, and I leave you with a nice model I found made by someone called 'Aernoud'

It's great, I have had a go myself but came out with some terrible results . But you can do some truly amazing things with this once you have learned all the skills. Thanks for posting this up Rad
